Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character. Einstein.
If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right. Mary Kay Ash
Having positivity provides us with a desirable inner compass and guiding principle. It means proactively good forward, having a defining purpose and expecting positive results. Let us consider three basic approaches to life: positivity, uncertainty, and negativity. Our overall approach to live impacts all aspects of our life; influencing what we do, how we do it and even how we feel about it. It influences how we overcome adversities and misfortunes, and whether or not we are happy or miserable.
If we have a ‘negative’ point of view, we life as a victim; expecting the worst and almost always getting what we expect. When our expectations are pessimistic in nature, our expectations are most often geared toward gloom and doom. Located between the poles of positivity and negativity would be the middle aground of uncertainty. This means we are more likely passive rather than proactive and have a hard time staying focused or maintaining a clear sense of purpose. We will lack the courage of our convictions and might sometimes venture toward the negative and even occasionally into the positive. Lacking a solid foundation to how we approach life, we are neither driven by a positive outlook or a negative one. We are like a leaf being blown about by the wind.
Positivity implies that we choose to live life successfully and victoriously. We are drivers and not passengers. We strive to be proactive. When adversities beset us, we get back up, reset our compass, and go forward. We have high expectations for both ourselves and of life. W should be victors, not victims; proactive, not reactive; drivers, not passengers. We tend to get out of life what we put into it. It is like having a garden. Care and effort put into our gardening efforts is usually rewarded with a good harvest.
It is our basic attitude, inner compass and sense of direction that determines whether we are ‘winners’ or ‘losers.’ We should look around and observe those who live life with positivity versus those taking the uncertain or negative approach. Those who are getting the most out of life are doing so because they are actively engaged in living life with some ‘gusto’. They are captains of their own ships. They have their sails up and are navigating their ship through life’s trials and tribulations with skill and daring. They know where they are headed.
Challenge: Are you victim or victor? Much can be determined by your answer. Your attitude toward life, determines what you get from it. Change your attitude. Maximize your determination. Be on the top, instead of at the bottom. Be a winner and not a loser. It is your choice as to how you approach life. Life largely gives you what you expect from it. If you never expect much, why should you be surprised when you get what you expect?
Wisdom: If you develop the absolute sense of certainty that powerful beliefs provide; then you can get yourself to accomplish virtually anything, including those things that other people are certain are impossible. William Lyon Phelps
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life. Romans 2:7
We are made in God’s image. We have wonderful and infinite possibilities. He is our heavenly father and wants the best for us. He made us to live successfully. We have been given free will. How we choose to live life is our choice. Those choosing the negative or uncertain approach will likely miss out. We will never live the victorious life we were intended until we choose to walk with him. That is how we live with positivity.
Prayer: Help me to live this live in victory and not in defeat. Grant me the strength to be victorious.
