Our aspirations are our possibilities. Samuel Johnson
There is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do. Henry Ford
No matter what the level of your ability, you have more potential than you can ever develop in a lifetime. James T McCay
Life is full of potentialities and possibilities. Mathematically there are unlimited combinations of possible outcomes as to where life might take us as well as multitudes of circumstances and experiences that can form our life. At any point in time we usually have numerous choices as to what decisions we can make. Each choice takes us down a different road which in turn creates many more choices and decisions. The numbers involved in all these possible combinations are easily more than anyone can comprehend. The seeds of change are always being sown.
Most of us have looked back and wondered where our life would be today had we made some different choices than the ones we made. Would we be the same person; would we be at the same place in life as we are today; what might be different had we chosen differently? Would our life be better had we chosen differently? It is easy to look back and ask ourselves these questions. How many of us have looked forward and asked the same kind of questions? When we look forward we are dealing with possibilities and potentialities. It stands to reason the younger we are, the greater the mathematical possibilities of all the various alternatives. The older we are, the potentialities and possibilities are not as great as they once were. Nonetheless, the possible outcomes of all the choices and decisions that await us continue to be more than we can likely comprehend. There are always many directions we can choose to take our life and many different decisions we can choose to make.
The adage saying it is not over until it is over makes the point. Life and its many possibilities are always in front of us. The adage saying the door of opportunity reads “PUSH” advocates taking a proactive approach. In many ways each of us is writing our own autobiography of how we live our life each and every day. The pages are blank until we start to make certain choices and start to go down the particular paths our choices happen to take us. There are virtually infinite potentialities and possibilities.
The number one factor that is determining the quality and character of our lives is the type of effort, mentally and physicality we choose to put into it. We should always be making the most of all of our potentialities and possibilities.
Challenge: The older you get the more you will realize you are responsible for your lot in life. You are responsible and accountable for what you have done so far and what you do going forward. It does no good to blame or scapegoat problems or shortcomings on anyone else or on bad luck or circumstances. There are some wonderful potentialities and possibilities that are waiting for you. Open up your envelope of opportunity and discover what they are.
Wisdom: Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us. Wilma Rudolph
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew 7:7
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. Matthew 21:22
Our ability to see the opportunities that lay in front of us are rather limited. We cannot see the future. God knows all and sees all of our potentialities and possibilities. When we make good decisions he knows what the outcome will be. When we make bad decisions he knows these outcomes as well. God would prefer that we make the best decisions, but he gives us freedom to choose for ourselves. If we want him to help us in our decision making, we must ask him.
Prayer: Help me to realize my many options. Help me to always consult with you and make the best choices.
