A human being is a single being. Unique and unrepeatable. Eileen Caddy
Nature made him, and then broke the mold. Ludovico Ariosto
Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You. Dr Seuss
People and snowflakes have something in common. There are no two humans or any two snowflakes that are the same. A one of a kind snowflake is created when unique meteorological circumstances come together to create it. Human beings carry uniqueness to a different level; a unique sperm combines with a unique egg to form a unique fetus. The mathematical possibilities of all the gene combinations are unfathomable.
We inherit traits and characteristics from our parents and their parents and their parents, and so on. Mathematically our uniqueness is programmed from the beginning. As we grow and develop, our heredity combines with our environmental influences to cause us to become even more unique. We come from the “factory” with powerful programming; infinite possibilities; designed for accomplishments and having potential for living rich and rewarding lives. We are intended to acquire knowledge and wisdom as we journey forward while living life as an exciting and rewarding adventure. The problem is either we do not know how to turn on the “go” button, we are afraid to do so, or choose to keep it turned down to “Low”.
Everyone has many paths, choices and forks in the road to deal with as they battle through life. We have our own customized set of trials and tribulations. It is “mind-boggling” and perplexing to think through all the possibilities confronting us. Some choose to experience life as “hapless” victims or as leaves blown about by the wind. We can choose to be in charge by approaching life’s challenges proactively, positively, and purposefully. Life happens whether we choose to be actively involved managing it or merely passively along for the ride.
Each of us starts as a lump of clay, having no control in how we get started. Many are passively allowing life’s circumstances to mold and shape them. We can choose to become our own potter or we can passively let life’s circumstances do it to us. The adage, “act or be acted upon”, applies greatly. Everyone is continuously being molded and shaped into something. It we are not actively involved in the process we have little control in how the finished work may or may not be We need to put on a potter’s apron, get our hands wet and get involved in molding and making ourselves into the unique and beautiful work of art we are intended to be.
Challenge: One of the life’s mysteries is whether or not you will be held accountable for the life you live. It seems logical to err on the safe side and try to live to the best of your abilities. This requires becoming actively involved in your own growth and development. You must take responsibility for what you are, where you are going, and ultimately what you become. Become the wonderful person your potential will allow you to become
Wisdom: At bottom every man knows well enough that he is a unique being, only once on this earth; and by no extraordinary chance will such a marvelously picturesque piece of diversity in unity as he is, ever be put together a second time. Friedrich Nietzsche
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36
By my Gods shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. II Timothy 1:7
We are made in God’s image. We have some of his spirit. This is the spark of great potential within us that creates infinite and wonderful possibilities. We are uniquely made with unique possibilities. We have access to what it takes to live life joyfully and successfully. We fall short when we try to do so by ourselves and without his help. He empowers us and helps us to become what He designed us to be. We must ask him for his help.
Prayer: Help me to have the strength, the faith, and the courage to take control of my life.
