I never think of the negative. All obstacles can be overcome.  Donald Trump

You can’t raise positive people on negative feedback.  Gerald Jampolsky

We can destroy ourselves by cynicism and disillusion just as effectively as by bombs.  Kenneth Clark

Answer the following: “Of the two, optimist or pessimist, who is happier, accomplishes more, has better relationships, lives longer and is more healthy? Given the choice, do you prefer being a pessimist or an optimist?

Most of us would answer ‘optimist’ to both questions. If this is true, why do so many lean toward the side of pessimism? There is a fundamental life’s principle that is linked to the concepts of optimism and pessimism. The human being is designed to gravitate toward that which it thinks about most of the time. In many respects life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. We are what we have thought about and are becoming that which continue to think about, see, experience and dwell on. Our subconscious mind is always seeking to take us where our thoughts are. We are like heat seeking missiles targeting on what we have been programmed to pursue. Several of life’s natural laws are pertinent: “The Path of Least Resistance”, and “Inertia”. It is easier to be pessimistic. It is the past of least resistance. Since the world’s natural state tends pessimistic, it takes significant energy to overcome the inertia of negativism. It requires discipline, energy and conscious control to be optimistic.

It is easy to be mentally and motivationally lazy. It is easier to accept negativism. It is harder to be disciplined and have the mental energy, focus, and wisdom to see, think, and live optimistically. Life comes from the inside out. Our approach to life comes from our thought processes and how we are programmed. This results from literally millions of inputs that started impacting us when we were born and continue influencing us until we die. Our outlook on life is the cumulative and weighted impact of all of these countless influences. Regrettably, the vast majority of these influences are negative and pessimistic. It is much easier to be a pessimist, because the majority of our world gravitates toward the negative; negativism breeds negativism.

We can choose to be enslaved to the world of pessimism or we can choose to escape its bounds and live in the realm of optimism. This is a life style choice. We have the option of expecting, demanding and living a higher quality and dimension of life. It takes dedicated desire, discipline, and motivation to do so. We have what it takes to emancipate ourselves from the slavery of pessimism?

Challenge:  You must defeat pessimism? You have to swim upstream. It requires self-discipline and mental growth, and requires filling your live with as many positive influences as possible. You have to change your internal programming on the inside. The choice is yours. Do you want to take the high road or the low road? Literally, the quality of life you live from today onward; is at stake. Get involved, take charge of its direction.

Wisdom: When one door closes, another opens. But we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.  Helen Keller.

Spiritual: (NIV)

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  Romans 10:17

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.  Psalm 31:24

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

If you knew you could not fail, what would you do differently? If you had the power of God at your disposal, what would you undertake? If you knew you would be rewarded for taking risks, acting on faith and stepping out of your comfort zone, what would you do? Do you believe in God and in his power?  He promises that He will help us to succeed. All the ingredients for success are there to take advantage of. We must take the first step.

Prayer:  Thank you for making and designing me in your image. Help me to live up to your expectations.
