Dreams

TranquilityThings longed for, things to be accomplished, goals to achieve, alternate realities

Nothing happens unless first a dream. Carl Sandburg

No person has the right to rain on your dreams. Marian Edelman

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. Anatole France

We have a tremendous power to dream and create for ourselves new realities. The ability to dream is wonderful and awesome. It is a shame it is so misunderstood and poorly used. Dreams give us a means to view alternative possibilities, to mentally create that which does not exist and to use our imagination to consider other choices other than those in which we find ourselves.

Most of us have gone shopping for new clothes; looked at various selections and tried them on for size and appearance. Not only did we try to imagine how we would look, we mentally considered how we might improve our image. In this sense new clothes helped us to alter our reality. Once we created the image that appealed, we bought the clothes. The ability to dream and imagine gives us an ability to be very creative with reality. It does not have to stop at a new image. There are no boundaries. We set our own rules and can dream about anything and everything that we can create inside our imagination. Who said day dreaming is a bad thing?

What we mentally see, dream, or imagine sets the stage of an alternative reality different from present reality. Since we have control, we can see ourselves in any role or capacity, as being anything or doing anything. It is as if we are our own character in a novel or movie. We are in total control and call the shots. It is our “baby” to do with as we see fit. Dreaming and imagining the upgrades and improvements we want is the first step of bringing into existence those things which do not presently exist. Whatever we can dream, we can do or become.

Conceiving and believing is the first step. The Wright brothers had to dream then believe they could fly. President Kennedy had to imagine us successfully landing on the moon before we could do so. Dreams can become reality. We have the power to dream little, medium or even huge. Once we dream it, we are on the way.

Using our mental pencils, paints and imaginary sketch pad, we should always be working on new and improved versions of “us”.  We are always works in progress. If we can dream an image of who we want to be, then we have what it takes to become that person we dream about.

Challenge: Are you the person you could be? Are there things to change, new skills and abilities to acquire, places to go or things to accomplish? If these things are in your mind, they are part of the “creative brew” that is cooking and simmering within. Such dreams are the first step in creating your new reality. Do not be afraid to go further. Fine tune your thoughts. Mentally seeing it becomes believing. Believing starts the ball rolling.

Wisdom: You see things; and you say, “Why?” But I dream things that never were; and I say, “Why not? George Bernard Shaw

Spiritual: (NIV)

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3: 5

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

God has given us our awesome creative powers for a reason. He expects us to be good stewards, using them to grow ourselves, developing our talents and abilities, and making a positive difference in this world. We are expected to be agents of change, not only changing ourselves for the better, but doing our part to make this secular world a better place. He gives us what we need to be good witnesses and examples.

Prayer:  Help me to wisely use these creative powers that you have given me. Help me to use them for good.
