Paradigm Shift

102_3061A major and fundamental change or shift in the way we think, operate, live, or see the world……

Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted. A.  Huxley

If you don’t get out of the box you were raised in, you won’t understand how much bigger the world is.  Angelina Jolie

The Wright brother’s first flight was not reported in a single newspaper because every rookie reporter knew what could and couldn’t be done.   Edward R. Murrow

If we are to make significant progress, it requires fundamental change in our thought process. It may require a paradigm shift in our approach. Our old way of thinking is not getting it done and not going to get us where we need to go. We need to go back to the drawing board. Our thoughts and methods need updating. If the Wright brothers continued to accept only their old ways of thinking, the birds would have continued to own the skies.

If the approach we have been using in the past was effective, we would be satisfied with where we are. We could continue to do things as we have always done them. Some of us may fall into this category. Chances are that the many of us are not satisfied. We have to admit that doing nothing more than giving lip service to our needs has not worked and it is time to make a ‘paradigm shift’ to something new and different.

We have lived in the lip service world. We may talk a good game, but we do not really deliver. True personal growth requires a very serious commitment. It requires that we change from the inside out. We have to take a different path from the majority. We must see ourselves objectively; requiring a reality check on who and what we are as well as where we are headed. It requires breaking down the old self and rebuilding a new self. It takes a special honesty to recognize and admit to personal shortcomings, weaknesses, and limiting beliefs. To move ahead requires changing our approach and looking for opportunities, both mentally and physically, to think and act in a manner which is consistent with who we want to become going forward. By making small incremental changes, we lay the groundwork for the permanent changes we are seeking

It is easier to get things done when having a plan. Undergoing a shift in our thought processes may give us a new plan of action. When we start seeing ourselves as the person we want to become this is a big step forward. We must remember that if we continue to do the same things we have always done, we will continue to get the same results as we have always gotten. Is it time to make some serious changes? Do something new and better!

Challenge: If you see the need to change how you think about things, you are ready for change. Most are either oblivious or are uninterested in changing for the better. Your eyes have been opened. Your realization there is a better you waiting to be born from the old you is wonderful. You have recognized the need; now begin to make small incremental steps. No matter how small the progress, every day do something that will move you forward.

Wisdom: We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them. Einstein

Spiritual: (NIV)

Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.  Proverbs 22:4

The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.  Isaiah 32:17

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.  Hebrews 10:36

In many respects it does not matter where we have been; it is where we are going that matters. Seeking the truth, walking closer and closer with God and seeking His will in our lives, this is the shift in thinking that leads to success. Ask God to show you the way. Allow him to mold and make you into the wonderful creation he has always wanted you to be.  He is willing and able to do so. All we have to do is ask and allow him to help us.

Prayer: Help me to be able to see myself as I really am, then help me to become whom You want me to be.
