For the resolute and determined there is time and opportunity.  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Out of need springs desire, and out of desire springs the energy and the will to win. Dennis Waitley

Determination is the wake-up call to the human will.  Anthony Robbins

Those that succeed are those who are determined to do so. Too many of us are living life with unclear goals, plans, or purposes in mind. We are like a leaf blown to and fro. We may not necessarily be passive in our approach, but we are not what you would call “proactive” either. We take things as they come. There are things we would like to do or to accomplish, but often these are more like wishes and desires. We go through the motions, but we have not yet crossed over the bridge to a focused, determined and concentrated effort.

We have had occasions where we made a determined commitment to get something done. We had a definiteness of purpose, became focused, and willfully set about accomplishing a specific task. Chances are we have succeeded more than once when we use this technique. The reason that we have been successful is that we were determined to be so. This is characteristic to human nature; we are capable of great accomplishments when we set our minds to get something done. The creative, imaginative and the visual qualities of our brain, all work together in harmony to set us on a course that gets us where we determine to go. In addition to our own successes, we know those who have used the power of determination to accomplish wonderful things: overcoming a tobacco addiction, losing weight, going back to school, getting out of debt, starting their own business or perhaps developing new job skills. We see the results of such determined efforts every day.

Determination is a major key to accomplishment. With it we do, without it we fail. If we are determined to accomplish, chances are that we will succeed despite obstacles, hindrances, stumbles, and any issues getting in our way. Being able to foster and utilize determination skills is very powerful. This power comes from our inner core. Once we truly set our mind to accomplish something and we believe that we can; there is nothing likely to divert us. We will likely achieve our desired purpose. When we learn how to use determination, it is at our disposal to be used again and again. It is like many other skills, the more we use it, the stronger and better we become at it. It is amazing what we can accomplish once we are determined. Determine to be determined.

Challenge:  Today is a good time to practice determination. “Determine to be determined.” Pick a project or issue that is waiting on your action: diet, exercise, an activity, a phone call, a chore? …specifically identify it, focus, and overcome the procrastination; use will power; determine to get it done. Maintain focus, commit, and avoid distractions and excuses. Cross over the bridge of determination. Your determination will prevail.

Wisdom: Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. George Sheehan

Spiritual: (NIV)

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Hebrews 11:1

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.  Psalm 31:24

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36

God did not put us here to vegetate. If that were the case we would have been a vegetable or a lower life form. He uniquely made us and equipped us with our own one of a kind talents, abilities, and raw potential. We are supposed to develop our gifts during over life time. Many believe a future life waits after this one has finished.  Everything we do, learn, and experience during life prepares us for the future. We should go, do and become.

Prayer:    Help me to grow today? Help me to make a difference, today.
