Energy and persistence conquer all things. Benjamin Franklin

The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have. Norman Vincent Peale

Creative words generate energy; negative words drain energy.  Robert Schuller

Life is much more enjoyable when we have energy and vitality to embrace it fully. Lacking this necessary energy is like a flashlight that has nearly exhausted its batteries. When we are mentally and physically exhausted we have a hard time getting much done. We need to be energized to function well.

Let’s consider four sources of energy. The first is the energy that is generated as a result of the food we eat. It is our most basic energy source. It keeps us alive. No food, no energy, no life. The better our nutrition the more energy we have access to and the better our overall physical health becomes. Poor nutrition provides poor energy; good nutrition provides good energy. We would do well to put the time and effort into improving this most basic energy source.

A second source of energy comes from being physically fit. It is closely related to the energy we get from having good nutrition. We can relate to the increased energy we have when we are physically fit as compared to the lack of energy we have when we are more sedentary and lethargic. We know we should dedicate some time and effort into becoming physically fit. Our good intentions often lack the commitment and the follow through.

A third source of energy could best be described as mental energy. Enthusiastic people are very energetic. This energy comes from within. Having it is an indication that a person is relatively void of inner conflict, depression, anger, anxiety, and a whole litany of energy draining negative emotions. Depressed people have little or no energy. As we are able to get our self-issues in order, we are able to feel better and better about ourselves and we become more energized. Being on the road to personal growth and development rewards us with increased energy, motivation, desire, feeling of well-being, and self confidence.

A fourth type of energy is best described as a type of spiritual energy. It comes from having something to believe in, something that inspires; it creates a sense of purpose and meaning. People who have a special calling or a mission in life are often those who seem to have an abundance of this type of energy. It is a powerful driver.

All of these forces of energy are desirable and are necessary if we are to get the absolute most out of our lives.

Challenge: Can you use more energy? Nutrition, exercise, mental well-being, enthusiasm and something to believe in various sources of energy available to you. Do you lack in one or more of these energy sources? Your life is enriched by more energy. Break free from any obstacles keeping you from being energized. Invest in your nutrition, your physical well-being, your mental well-being, and having a worthy purpose to life for.

Wisdom: The key that unlocks energy is desire. It’s also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited.  Earl Nightingale

Spiritual: (NIV)

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer> Matthew 21:22

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matt 6:33

Believers have access to the unlimited power and energy that comes from the Holy Spirit of God. We can be enabled and empowered through God’s love to overcome our own inadequacies and weakness and then be able to go out and allow his love to help others. This energy that comes from God helps us to grow and to reach our potential. It allows us to be a positive and proactive force to help make this world a better place.

Prayer: Please enable and empower me to reflect you love to others.
