When all else is lost, the future still remains. Christian Nestell Bovee

The future is purchased by the present.  Samuel Johnson

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.  Eleanor Roosevelt

The future is one moment from now and consists of all the time we have left until we take our very last breath. Our future is mostly in our hands and has yet to be written or determined. Many of our future’s details will be caused by the things we do or do not do from this moment and as we go forward in life.

Much of our future’s outlook is very much in our control, but there are aspects that are outside our control. For this reason, we are wise to address ourselves mostly to things we influence and not waste time and energy on things we cannot control. It is so much smarter to concentrate our efforts where it is likely to do us some good.

Our future is being influenced by the thoughts we are having right now. We have been the primary author of our own autobiography for most of our lives. We are the main character and are responsible for creating most of what is becoming our future. If we are mostly slipping and sliding and not developing and growing, the future prognosis is not as good as it could be. By working to better ourselves, gaining wisdom and understanding and developing our innate potential; the future will be rosier. Are we too pessimistic, lethargic, complacent and not really progressing to becoming the person we can be? Looking into our crystal ball, what do we see? If we are optimistic, positive, and growing; then our future looks positively better. We are creating our future by our thoughts, visions and actions of today. Are we putting the effort into unlocking the potential locked up inside us?

Changing our thoughts and actions for the better does change our future for the better. Think good thoughts, have a better future. Thinking undesirable thoughts does worsen it. Do good things; have a better future. We do this by one thought and one action at a time. We build on each of our successes. Our future is largely determined by what we determine to make it. The success or lack of our future success is not so much determined by our external conditions, but by our internal “going-ons”. Our mental attitude, our basic approach to living, and who we are; is where our future success lies. Life can become rich and rewarding because of what happens inside us.

Challenge: How important is your growth and development? Give yourself a grade for your level of commitment to becoming a better you. Are you growing at a rate that is appropriate for your potential? This affects all aspects of your life, your present as well as your future. Open up the door and walk confidently out of your comfort zone. Commit to living to your potential. More happiness and success are there waiting for you.

Wisdom: When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened. John M Richardson, Jr

Spiritual: (NIV)

For I am the Lord, Your God; who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear, I will help you.  Isaiah 41:13

You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.  Psalm 128:2

Take therefore no though of the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Matthew 6:34

Imagine an hour glass representing how much earthly time each of us has remaining. Some believe when the last grain of sand falls through their glass, that is it; that is the end of us. There are many that believe something better and wonderful is waiting for them and that this something new will last forever. God is our heavenly father and wants to show us a much better way. We can reach out and ask Him to give us this something better.

Prayer:  Help me to not worry about tomorrow. Help me to successfully grow through the issues of today.
