Priceless

DSC_0455Overcoming fear and worry, getting outside our comfort zone; new things and new experiences; memorable and fond memories; personal growth; getting joy and happiness from life

Joy in looking and comprehending is nature’s most beautiful gift. Einstein

Life is a succession of moments. To live each one is to succeed. Corita Kent

Adversity, and perseverance and all these things can shape you. They can give you a value and a self-esteem that is priceless. Scott Hamilton

Many things in life are difficult to place price tags on. Each of us has had events and experiences that are uniquely our own and profoundly personal to us. These moments stand out; often life changing and long lasting. As we reflect upon them, we might think of them as “priceless”. They cannot be valued in dollars and cents. Such things make us smile or become joyful, or may make us sad but help make this life more worthwhile.

Many describe the birth of a child as priceless. It is an event that changes our lives forever. Walking across a stage and receiving a high school diploma or college degree are priceless moments for many. Often these moments are more priceless for a parent of a child; something that was dreamed and anticipated for many years. Seeing our children take their first steps, first bike rides or getting married is rich and rewarding, giving great joy and happiness. These events can and do bring greater quality and perspective to our daily lives.

Life needs to be filled with priceless moments. We should seek them out and actively pursue them. It requires taking charge and getting off our rear ends; moving away from the stagnant and mundane; stepping outside our comfort zones, stepping forward, and seeking new and different. We should look at life as the adventure it is; a journey or even a safari. Instead of being dull and boring, status quo and immersed in complacency, we should seek new experiences, learn, grow and become all we can become. Every step taken forward is priceless.

Priceless is not in things and possessions. It is the feeling we get when we defeat fears and doubts, take on the unknown and overcome our adversities. It is the thrill of victory. All accomplishments are priceless. The “light bulb” moments; when mental fogs clear and we understand something that has eluded us; new wisdom and understandings; all these are priceless. It is the belly warming feeling we get by doing something good and kind for others. It is the very special moments we spend with friends and love ones. Such experiences are priceless. There are many rich and rewarding moments all around waiting to be experienced. Life should be a continuous Easter Egg Hunt. We should grab our basket and start grabbing all the priceless goodies that we can find.

Challenge: You will get more out of your life by stepping forward and looking for the rich and rewarding, than by sitting back and waiting for life to come to you. The more you sit back and wait, the more you have to accept whatever comes your way; the more you miss out. The more proactive and dynamic you are, the more you will affect and control life’s experiences. By putting more effort into it, the more rewarding your life will be.

Wisdom: Success, happiness, peace of mind and fulfillment – the most priceless of human treasures – are available to all among us, without exception, who make things happen – who make “good” things happen – in the world around them. Joe Klock

Spiritual: (NIV)

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 110:105

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:3

We miss out on many priceless moments because we do not have our heads and hearts really tuned into life. It is easy to be bogged down in worry, strife, fear and the daily struggles that capture and hold us captive. It takes a sense of freedom and confidence to appreciate life and the priceless moments and opportunities that are around us. If we will look to God to give us needed strength and guidance, we will have many more priceless moments.

Prayer: May my eyes, ears, heart and mind be open to see, experience, and to enjoy what life has to teach me.
